Reaperz – Cyntax Error 6 – Total Recall

Cyntax Error Records have kept the Reaperz behind a locked studio door for some time now, plans to unveil them earlier were delayed by the mortal enemy of all producers “THE PHANTOM HARD DRIVE CRASH”, this meant that Cyntax Error CEO’s Rekless & Dazzler had to barricade the Reaperz in the studio  only cracking open the door to throw them a new hard drive then quickly shutting it. Faced with dehydration, starvation and sensory deprivation the reaperz (Dj Taz, Ricachet & N20) set to work on an escape plan “there’s only one way out of here” they thought …..”we gotta make some kinda sick bass driven music so Rekless & Dazzler will let us out”. Crystal Clear ‘Strength In Numbers EP’

Crystal Clear has been smashing up dancefloors for some time now, and here his debut EP for Frontline is no exception to that rule. The ‘Strength In Numbers’ EP comprises four tracks each with the power to stop an elephant in its tracks.

First up is the awesome vocal-led ‘Itzalot’. Featuring Cabbie on the production and Stapleton on the vocals, it’s a quirky stab at fun filled D&B but with a serious bass-fuelled edge. No wonder Mistajam made it his ‘Jam Hot’ record of the week!

Now back on his home turf with the wicked dancefloor banger Game Face, expect more of the trademark beefy drums that made Cutterz one of the hottest labels on the circuit a couple of years back. Caned on dub by the likes of Nicky BM, Crystal Clear, Ruffstuff, Probe and Crissy Cris, it has also been supported on 1Xtra and Kool FM so the chances are this is the tune that you’ve been banging on to your mates about for the last month. Non Vogue Presents The Upbeats – Big Skeleton

If you’re The Upbeats, you never know when inspiration is going to hit, or leave you curled up on the floor with laughter-induced abdominal muscles pains. In this particular scenario, their inspiration was a whispered Brazilian ghetto story related to them by a friend. The story of the Caveraos (English translation: Big Skeleton), a super-tank full of Navy Seal trained Brazilian gang members known to terrorise the favelas of Rio De Janeiro, or on good days, distribute Nike sneakers and free cable. Sounds fucked up right?

Anyway, as you’ve probably gathered by now, The Upbeats were suitable taken with this story, and having already floated the idea of a haunted-house album, decided to title their third album Big Skeleton, out of homage to the Caveraos; and horror in general. (more…)

Cabbie and Pappa G – Pirates (Crissy Criss Remix) – Biological Beats

Fatman D’s Bio beats label reaches it’s seventh release and this time it’s up to Cabbie & Pappa G to deliver the goods, and as always the boys come good! The original ‘Pirates’ is based around the massive 80’s Reggae hit from Home T, Cocoa Tea & Shabba Ranks and is a skanking, rolling, dance floor filler that packs a weighty punch. For the flip, Crissy Cris is drafted in on remix duties and delivers a heavyweight remix, beefing up the drums and percussion and adding a dirty drop making it a hard choice on which mix to draw for in the clubs. Already receiving some serious play on dubplate and has had numerous airplay on 1Xtra and the big london pirate stations. Boooom!

Congo Natty – Most Wanted Remixes LP

Die – Clear Skyz (Break Rmx) / Die & Break – Get Some

Originally released on Full Cycle in 1999, Die’s Clear Skyz was classic Bristol funk, a simple but effective combination of rolling breaks and a hypnotic bassline lifted this classic track to anthem status and is still a firm favourite in dj’s sets all over the world. Now ten years on and with Die’s aptly named Clear Skyz imprint in full flow the time seems right for an update and what better producer to tackle this sensitive task than the mighty Break. Keeping that mammoth bass riff intact and concentrating more on getting the track up to date, Break pulls it off with ease – the drums are punchy, the bass thunderous but it’s the little production touches and edits, that have almost become this producers trademark sound, that really make this remix shine through. On the flip, the guys get together for a brand new collaboration – Get Some is a funky little number, comprising of bluesy vocals, jazzy atmospherics and a bubbling bassline that has more than enough weight to damage those dance floors. Essential! Released on both limited Picture Disc and black vinyl.
