Ever since someone first sneakily recorded a clip of DJ Hype playing ‘Dreamland’ on his Kiss FM show, the internet has been ablaze with talk about this immense tune. Anticipation has been building and building and with the drum & bass public about to burst, it’s finally available to buy on 12′ vinyl wax.

Haunting atmospheres and skipping, jungle beats open the way before an almighty amen destroys any semblance of the dancefloor. Booming sub notes punctuate the aural landscape and the clattering drum edits complete this junglistic picture: Absolutely beautiful music with a nostalgic edge.

‘Acid’ brings the feel up a few years, but still stays firmly in mid-’90s drum & bass, with rolling breaks and echoed bird-song FX. Scatterings of female vocals and reversed pads add the finishing touch, and this one is the perfect accompaniment to the A side.

2009 was a big year for Sigma, and 2010 has kicked off looking like there’s no signs of stopping. Their remix of the Adam F & Redman track out has just been released on Breakbeat Kaos. and has been sitting at number 1 in most charts for the past month or so.

Over on their Life imprint Original Sin has remixed the second release “Front To Back”, and it’s currently getting road tested (and has been murdering the floor!). They also have a bunch of other tracks ready to go and are lining up the next two Life 12″s as we speak. Check out their Top 10 below for more info on what’s in their box.

Their collaboration with Fresh on Breakbeat Kaos is nearly finished with Cylon already getting massive support from the Lucky few that have a copy!

Putting himself to work in the studio Sub Zero comes up with his second high quality 12″ since going solo last year, and it’s another pair of immense bangers.

Taking the opportunity to seize the current old skool jungle revival by the throat, Sub Zero turns out oOH baby, a rinsing combination of clattering breakbeats, pounding bass notes and ragga samples – and that’s all before it really drops! Warping early’90s bassline business awaits as cheeky female vocals scatter over the top.

Motion is more straight up modern D&B, but still with plenty of that distinctive Ganja flavour. Grinding mid-range synths punctuate the mix as rattling drums and intense, rising bass give this one that inevitable dancefloor quality.

“Voodoo music is the new label from Offkey. In the last year Raiden has increasingly begun to explore his love for tribal & percussive based drum n bass and after a recent trip to Latin America the concept for Voodoo Music was born. Voodoo Music will also feature contributions and collaborations with Rockwell, Loxy, June Miller amongst others, each release will come with its own identity and we will be working closely with the artists to make sure their work is represented in the truest sense.

The début release for the label is the long in demand tracks from Raiden entitled ‘Baptism Of Fire’ b/w ‘Danzon’. Baptism Of Fire is a brooding track that thrives on holding a sense of cold tension whilst ‘Danzon’ is a latin inspired skank out that doesn’t go down the trad-latin formula but instead concentrates highly on the complex rhythms of Cuba”.

In keeping with the Mainframe ethos of creating the optimum dance floor experience, Camo & Krooked’s ‘Above & Beyond’ is a production tour de force encapsulating perfectly the drum & bass ‘sound of now’. Ultimately uplifting to the core the LP comes jam-packed with big-room vibes and body-moving bass that has had even the likes of Zane Lowe and Annie Mac calling for more. Brought to us by a duo seemingly totally in tune with the needs and wants of the new generation of drum & bass fans ‘Above & Beyond’ makes for the perfect album to get any party started.

“Camo & Krooked deliver a firing debut album – these boys are looking to make some serious moves – a definite must buy!” Chase & Status

Check out the Mainframe sound here – www.mainframerecordings.at

Not content with providing 14 slices of dance floor heaven on CD1, Mainframe then give us even more with a bonus mix on CD2 provided by label boss DJ DisasZt. Expect a turbo-charged excursion as we’re taken through the history of the label so far with a few VIP’s and extra exclusives thrown in for good measure to round off an awesome debut LP for both Camo & Krooked and indeed Mainframe Recordings.

“I play two Camo & Krooked tunes per set minimum, they send me two new tunes each week. Austrians in overdrive!” El Hornet, Pendulum

“Camo & Krooked are one of the hottest D&B production outfits to come out of Europe in 2009!” Friction

“These guys have gone from strength to strength with this LP being the crown of their hard work – 10/10!” Shimon

Available in all good record shops and digital retailers from February 15th 2010

“Writing ‘A Wandering Journal’ has been liberating beyond expression. It’s a project I’ve had developed and hibernating for so long that looking back, I know that if it’d been left any longer it wouldn’t have been realised to its true potential. All the unwritten details of the concept and the loose narrative would have faded in my mind. Creating it when I did, whilst the concept was still strong in my mind, and my musical output was amongst the most free-spirited of my career was perfect timing.
And it’s spurned me on to be even more ambitious with what I create in the future. I have to approach a new frontier now that this album is complete, and the current multimedia landscape is the perfect playground in which to elaborate on what I stand for creatively.”

ABOUT SABRE:

Hailing from north London, 27 year old DJ turned Producer ‘Sabre’ has slowly been risen through the ranks of the global electronic music fraternity, securing as he goes a reputation as a twisted yet soulful thinker, bringing a grittier sound to the deeper spectrum of the drum and bass scene and experimental electronica.

After having spent his earliest years in the Seychelles, Sabre moved to the UK in 1989. Reaching his early teens, he found a passion for Hip-Hop and turntablism, and equipped himself as a bedroom DJ. The subsequent vinyl addiction was cemented by the arrival of the Jungle Era, and overwhelmed by the richness of the music, Sabre started to purchase the occasional release eventually switching focus away from Hip-Hop entirely in the late 90’s with the arrival of more futuristic, industrial sounding drum and bass, from artists like Future Forces, Photek, Teebee and DJ Trace. By the millennium, pirate and internet radio stations such.

After stints on pirate radio stations such as Rude FM a course in music technology followed and armed the young DJ with a firm grasp of studio technique; the first releases came in 2002 under the guise of the collaborative ‘Intimidation Collective’ project, a two man, selfdriven enterprise selling white label music from car boots straight to the shops. The profile was growing at grass roots level in the underground, and now approaching 2004, small and mid sized labels started picking up on the ‘techy/soulful’ mix of dance floor drum and bass being produced by the newcomer. The first throws at starting a brand within music came the year after with the launch of London Zu, the now retired drum and bass club night formerly held at Londons’ La Scala venue.

“Still perhaps the most exciting era of my life, around 2002-2004 when I started to first find support in this music, mingle with people who had been my heroes for years, finally knowing that I had a niche and a following, which is all I really wanted.”

In the years since those first opportunities, Sabre’s grown to emerge as a global DJ with residencies across Europe, and secured releases and remix work for labels including Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Critical and Shogun Audio. Spanning many styles, this initially dance floor-orientated catalog has since evolved itself towards a more minimal and experimental outlook, resulting in 2007 with a commission from Capitol films to contribute toward the film score for the Tony Kaye feature ‘Black Water Transit’. The view looking to the future is spread across the musical and multimedia spectrum. www.myspace.com/sabrelondonzu

ABOUT CRITICAL MUSIC:

Established in 2002 Critical Music is one of the most well respected underground dance music labels in the UK. Releasing some of the freshest breaks and beats from the likes of Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Cyantific, Break, D Kay and many more, it has gone on to build a loyal following around the world driven on by owner Kasra’s savvy music industry knowledge and keen A&Ring skills. Passing from strength to strength 2009 saw Critical continue to build with highly acclaimed releases such as Break’s remix of Spectrasoul’s ‘Alibi’, Sabre’s glorious ‘Original Sin’ and the very well-received ‘Critical Sound’ compilation. Now then in 2010 Critical has reached yet another milestone; releasing its first solo artist album from the people’s favourite, Sabre.

Renegade Hardware charges head on into 2010 with the first release of the year – The Aquarius EP. Taking on board a sonic assault from around the globe…

AQUARIUS EP

Cat No: HWARE15
Released: 22nd FEB 2010
Formats: 12” Vinyl / Download

TRACKLISTING

A) RAIDEN – AQUARIUS
Kicking off proceedings we head straight to the title track – Aquarius by Raiden. Huge epic pads combine with razor sharp breaks and seriously heavy bass to create a truly spine chilling track. Aquarius captures the pure unadulterated sound of Hardware.

B) NC-17 – ATTITUDE ERA
Backing up the A side we welcome NC-17 to the fold with their Hardware debut. The duo cut straight to the chase to show you what they are all about with an all out bass driven roller in the form of Attitude Era. The subs on this track pound and grind the listener into submission. Taking no prisoners this is a savage bass bin work out.

C) LOXY & RESOUND – PSYCHOLOGY MOVES
Opening up disc two Hardware resident Loxy teams up with Finland’s Resound with “Psychology Moves”. Showcasing yet another hue in his already diverse audio palette, Loxy brings a tribal roll out. Straight up menacing & militant.
