Having spent more than seventeen cross-genre years featuring on some of dance music’s most prestigious imprints, Blu Mar Ten have opened the doors of their own label to a host of fresh young talent emerging from the leftfield of Drum & Bass and beyond. Blu Mar Ten Music (BMTM) is a home for the beautiful and the ugly, the elegant and the awkward, the euphoric and the melancholy.
The eighth release in this new chapter is brought to us by brand new producer Spirant who, at only 16 years old, joins BMTM right at the start of his musical career.
Channeling tribal Africa via Berlin, Redshift is a throbbing, percussive workout featuring irresistible rhythms and heavily sidechained synths. A monotone, pitchbent bassline is powered along by off-kilter drums while phasing synths are pummeled into submission. Redshift has been a crowd-favourite in all our sets for the last 6 months and shows no sign of letting up any time soon.
Lightening the mood, Alias Grace recalls the heyday of Good Looking Records. Burbling arpeggio crescendos and a stepping break give way to super calm pads and bass, evoking memories of early Doc Scott & Q-Project releases. If Speed still existed this would unquestionably be one of its anthems.
