BPM
Like Ghetts says in his Intro to Calm Before The Storm….
“Grime is to me what Jazz was to Nat King Cole”
Thats how I feel about grime, grime is for me – the new jazz. I first heard grime in 2003/4, my son (singer/songwriter J.O.E) started bringing grime cd’s back from school, just these home burn cd’s with just “Grime” scribbled on them, or “Grime 2″, no other info, thats where I first heard Essentials, Wiley, Roll Deep, Danny Weed, Kano and many more, my son was also playing Dizzy Rascal, he was in the same school year as P Money so there was probably some OG’s influence there too!
I totally fell in love with grime music, and got deeper and deeper into it, seeking out more producers, I started mixing mostly grime instrumentals, my mixes being broadcast on The Sublow Movement Show, Global Vortex Radio USA, and playing live weekly on Wireless.fm Internet radio and playing out as a regular with Unsound and Siren and Amorphous Sound Systems.
Influences too many to mention.. but just for a start, some of my favorite grime producers are: J Sweet, Wonder, Dxplicit, Iron Soul, SLK, Dany Weed, D.O.K, Spyro, Spooky, Silencer (Teddy), Floops, Jon E Cash, Mr Slash, S.K.I.T.Z, J2K, Terror Danjah, Maniac, Nocturnal, Low Deep, Virgo, Bossman, Skepta, DJ Dread D, 16 Bit, Joker, Darq E Freaker, Wiley, Plastician.. and so on and on…

Background
My background is in fine art, the first sound productions I made for public were made part of fine art installations and performances in Catherine Grove Studios London, Mad Cows tea Party, artist collective piece, and around the same time for performances at OMSK.
I first got into modern dance music when I went to a Spiral Tribe Party- it was a life changing moment for me, and I have loved the evolution of electronic dance music. I started getting into experimental beat making and sampling. 1996 I formed one of the early drum and bass live acts “Sampleterrorist” Nigel Kennedy came up to us after we played at a festival in cornwall, praising what we did but 2 members left soon after.
… so I got into Djing mainly a way of working independantly and getting to know more about the music I’d been dancing to for years, I loved drum and bass and was a regular down at the Amorphous nights in Goldsmiths Tavern New Cross, there was some legendary Drum and Bass nights down there, SLB, Switch (Amorphous), Smutley, Manga, Simple, Richy and many more excellent dj’s and live acts like Three Key Possey and Digidub.Thats where I started out as a drum and bass selektor, putting on some of the tunes that made me want to dance.
Played for sound systems and promoters Unsound, Siren, ACME, X Connections, Roller Coaster, Irrational Musikworks, Bogotrax, Amorphous, Reknaw, Redeye, Wrek N Roll, and many more. I played in countries all over the world including UK, Russia, USA, Italy, Germany, France, Ireland, Holland and Colombia, Czech, Bosnia, Croatia, and played on line ups with Andy C (Fridge Brixton), Pendulum (Goldsmiths College), Nicky Blackmarket, Aphrodite, Kenny Ken, Ixyindamix, Crystal Distortion, Mickey Meltdown, Precision Cuts, Krakendub, Galletas Caliente, Sebass, Manga, Rowan Megabitch Hue Jah Fink, and many more djs who I have respected over the years. Radio play: Hyper FM pirate radio, Wireless FM , Global Vortex USA, Life Fm. UK Rumble, Nakedbeatz , Ipswich Community , Radio Na Life Dublin, Resonnance FM, New Detroit Radio usa, Bogota University Colombia, Rec Radio Bogota, DJ Blanko’s Primate show on Justin TV.
