BPM

BPMCant remember when I first got into D&B,"once upon a time long long ago" by 1996 I formed a Drum n Bass band "SampleTerrorists". But in 1999 two members of our band left abruptly, so after that I borrowed some decks & bought some Drum n Bass vinyl.

In 2002 Started playing out at "Amorphous" @ Goldsmiths Tavern, New Cross, (run by Bevin of Reknaw Crew). Amongst the DJ's there I met S.L.B who formed Nakedbeatz Record Shop & help run UK Rumble, now running Nakebeatz.

In 2004 my son Joe played me some Dizzee Rascal & I thought it was the most interesting music I'd heard in years, after that I bought less DnB & became obsessed with grime, early Dubstep.

A DJ friend said to me recently "so you are a story teller", I liked that because I can spend months on a mix working which tunes will work with others what directions each tunes will take the mix. It is like the possibilities of which pathway to take at a junction when you have no destination, only an adventure to choose, I like exploration, journeys & fine art, I think I DJ like a painter.

My tune "The Roarrr" came out on Global Vortex Records (U.S.A) in June 2010 (available at http://www.addictech.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=55026)

In the future i would like to be working on some new tunes, Dubstep & Grime tunes, Myng from Global Vortex has asked me to work on an E.P. I've also been talking with NAT aka Metabot from Black Ops, he's talking about doing a remix of a sublow tune of mine "Grimeship" for the sublow movement label.

DJ Assassin

DJ AssassinI started my musical journey playing alonside Dj Snpr (DNBCN) and Blacka Mc on Ruud Awakening in the Mid 90's Playing at numerous underground Parties across London. Having moved to Barcelona I joined the Growing Drum and Bass movement there playing at the cities top Venues including Plataforma and Zentraus, whilst also playing regularly at Golfus in Tarragona.

Once back in the Uk I Started regularly playing alongside the Resistance Fammo's Dj Choppah on Drumandbass worldwide before securing a Regular show on Phatbeats.net alongside Mc Wisper.

Currently I play Saturday nights on Originuk.net alongside Keith Rinse-It and also do Guest shows with fellow Neutronics Artist Upakut on Koollondon.

I have many influences going back to the early Reggae influenced Jungle that the likes of Brockie, Kenny Ken, Randal etc...used to play. I used to follow them as they were the best at hyping up the crowd and they used to play the freshest tracks that no-one had.

I would describe my style as an extension of my name, meaning I adapt to my surroundings depending on the crowd response mixing old with new and often dropping dark minimal bombs in the middle of a jump up set, expect seamless mixing when you see my name on a flyer!!

My plans for the future include Collaborations on Neutronic Beats digi label with fellow artists Manga, S.L.B and Upakut as well as playing at many Promotions both home and abroad, not forgetting my various radio shows.

DJ Flapjack

DJ FlapjackI started way back in 88 going to Acid House Warehouse raves such as Energy, Sunrise, Raindance, Perception and the infamous Braintree Barn with Mr C, Matthew B, Lenny D, Frankie Knuckles etc. I used to look at the DJ who was playing i.e. Sasha, Matthew B, Lenny D etc and think to myself I could do that, the way that the DJ was controlling the crowds in the rave's really appealed to me. I went out and bought two second-hand Citronic decks, a crummy mixer and a tape deck.

After around six-nine months of practising I made my first tape and gave it out to a few friends, thinking back now the mixing was terrible but at that time it didn't matter so much as people were just listening to the tunes rather than the mixing. After numerous DJing at local house parties it was a couple of years before I had my first proper booking at a rave called Innovation, although a small venue I found myself DJing alongside LTJ Bukem, Ray Keith and the local elite DJ's of Ipswich. It wasn't long before I was gradually getting more play outs at events in my local area of Ipswich, and then Ipswich Community Radio started with a four week licence in September 93. It was my first time on the radio and I was asked to DJ on the "Hot Mix Live" slot-the DJ Challenge. During the time of 93-94 I was partying HARD, going out twice a weekend and during the week, and I was building a good reputation as a DJ in the area, playing at mostly all of the local events.

It wasn't until June 94 that things really picked up for me after I won the Tape Of The Month for Jungle in the well respected "Eternity" magazine, of which they sold through the magazine and gave me a write up. Soon after this I was approached by a promoter and asked to play at an event in Kings Lynn called Olympia, the Speedway Stadium in September 94, this was my first major big play out at a massive venue and was also co-promoted by DJ SS and his Total Kaos promotions co. I was DJing alongside DJ SS, Grooverider, Randall, Kenny Ken, Ratty as well as numerous Happy Hardcore DJ's like Slipmatt, Vibes etc. The next event I played at was Olympia 2 at the same place and I was playing in the same arena (Jungle) as before this time with DJ's such as Bryan G, Ray Keith etc, after the response I got from these two events I knew that this was the one thing I wanted to do, to DJ.

Now after many years of playing out I have Dj'd at many raves including Desire (which was my first major break to play at a massive venue i.e. the sanctuary in Milton Keynes 1995, big up the Phil/ Mick), the legendary Raindance, Best of British, Helter Skelter (I won a competition to play at the Energy 97 Festival). Also i have had long term residencies on various Pirate radio stations such as Flex Fm, Re-Load Fm, Rude Fm & Internet Radio Stations InterFace Fm, Gaia Live, UkRumble.com, planetdnb.com, worlddancefm.com & i am currently on www.dnbradio.com every saturday 9pm - 11pm GMT and also www.nakedbeatz.com every other Sunday 4pm - 6pm GMT.

I have also made several Drum and Bass tracks which were engineered by Cool Breeze for Dj Raps labels "Proper Talent" (Rumble remix with Dj Rap) & "Unique Muzique" (Gulf Breeze) with releases in 1997 & Desires "S.U.S Recordings" label (Reverb/Final Solution) also in 1997.

Visit http://www.discogs.com/artist/DJ+Flapjack or http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/flapjack for detailed info on my releases.

With the birth of Mine & Cool Hand Flex's New Drum & Bass record label "Default Recordings" (www.defaultrecordings.co.uk) we aim to produce music that will catch the attention of the listener incorporating styles that myself & Cool Hand Flex have experienced from the early Acid House era & Hardcore days right through to the present D&B scene today.

My favourite Dj's are Grooverider, Randall, Nosia & my brother Feel x to name a few, too many to mention!. Favourite producers are Grafix & Fred V, London Hospitality, Klute, High Contrast, Marcus Intalex, Lenzman, Sigma, Metrik, Random Movement, FutureBound, ShockOne, Subsonik to name a few. My favourite MCs are Vocalist Cat Knight & Thunda B.

I love their unique style, creativity & diversity.

I like to play anything from upfront dnb (liquid, dark) to oldskool hardcore/jungle to 88-89 Acid House. The whole spectrum.

My plans for the future is to start producing again & to concentrate on my label Default Recordings.

DJ Glory

DJ Glory, Drum n Bass, Jungle, Liquid, Nakedbeatz, Nakedbeatz Radio,I first got in to the rave scene in the late 80s through my elder brother (the Infinity) who was an original raver and would have amazing Ibiza acid/Hardcore mix tapes playing out loud all the time, I always had high energy levels as a young boy, so it was a match made in heaven . Favourite dj Grooverider, Favourite producer High contrast. Why? Grooverider is the Godfather of Drum and Bass and has always been at the forefront of the genre, High Contrast because hes so musical in what he does . My playing style Old skool Jungle, new skool liquid, Jump up, and Tech step drum and bass. Plans for the future to keep on playing Drum and bass whatever its form, to make sure I put on an outdoor illegal rave, with no music boundries, and only happy people present . DJ HarmfuL

DJ HarmfuL,DJ HarmfuL got into Drum and Bass in early 2001 listening to one Nation tape packs, getting caught by the rhythmic bassline sounds from big Djs like Andy C, Friction, Mampi Swift and Brockie. Today things have not really changed. I run two radio shows during the week, mix out as much as possible at the weekends and party till early morning. My favourite Dj is Andy C, purely because our tastes and styles are very similar.

Otherwise I love all djs for what they produce behind the decks, Im not a fussy type and love to listen to what they have to offer.
My mixing style is very unique and outward. I love to play across the board Drum and Bass and throw in some Dubstep and old school in there too.

I am planning just to venture out with new up and coming radio shows and get my name out there as much as possible, its a big world out there with a lot of talent and hard working individuals who will make it big. I have played at several big venues including Oceana in Southampton, Empire Club in Bournemouth and many more across the UK.

Catch me Sundays 18:00-20:00 GMT

His favourite MC’s are GQ and Dett and his favourite producers are Reality, Moving Fusion, Original Sin and Zen. DJ Manga has been in the studio working on jump up tracks for “Cyntax Error Records”. He was just an avid listener until 1995 when he bought his first set of decks. His mix reflects his taste in D&B, he like all styles from old skool, to liquid to jump up. His future plans are to keep mixing, start producing his own tracks soon and some promotions of his own too, so watch this space! MC Bomber

MC BomberMy name is Richard aka MC Bomber. I'm gonna give you a little interlude on how I got into Drum n Bass/Jungle.

I started raving at the age of 16 going to place's like Lazerdrome, Paradise Club, also going to big raves such as Roast, One Nation, Orange, Labrynth, Telepathy, AWOL, Voodoo Magic an the list goes on.

For me back then it was all about the music, as I progressed through the years with the scene the MC element started to come through with the music. And obviously with my other musical taste's such as dancehall and hiphop this appealed to me which by hearing MC's of the day such as, Ragga Twins, Stevie Hyper D, Skibadee this motivated me to pick up the mic.

Dj Ram, Psycho, Surgeon, Friction, Hype, Clips, Nicky Blackmarket, Kane, also the the darker element of the scene dj's such as Limewax, Equinox, SPL & Dylan so my music Drum n Bass wise varies, Production wise I like producers such as Rhythm Beater, Manga, Sub Focus, Tantrum Desire & Fresh who's musical perspective is melodical. And I also like Liquid.

I would describe my playing style as a quick double time pace but can slow it down with hiphop and Ragga flows with lyrical intellect.

My plans for the future would be to work with S.L.B & Smoove to excel ourselves out there in the Drum n Bass community. I also plan to lay down lyrics on Drum n Bass tracks in the not to distant future.

Big up's to: S.L.B, Smoove, Narko, Pyscho, Surgeon, Theo B and to who ever supports the movement of the MC Bomber! Last but not least big up the C.R.0 borough.

Catch MC Bomber every Wednesday 20:00-22:00 GMT

MC KID

MC KIDI began my life as an MC whilst spitting bars in competitions at my local youth centre. In 2001, one of the youth workers noticed my energy.

I was working alongside my friend DVS MC and began running events with him at Rollercoaster, I was working tirelessly behind the scenes of the London Drum & Bass community, at first as a flier-er, working alongside DVS to bring joy into the lives of all who crossed their path.

My favourite DJ's are DJ Fesh, Ruffstuff, Bailey & Inter, these are my favourite DJ's because they all have their own styles and are always playing sick drum n bass tunes.

My favourite producers are Modified Motion, Hazard and Kane because they are different.

My favourite MC's are Shabba, DVS, Funsta, Harry Shotta, B-Kind, Deeza, Starz, Skibadee because every MC'in style of theirs is deep.
My Mc'in style is different because I gotta sing along, hooks and bars, I am also bringing something different to the game.

My plans for the future is to get out there and do more Mc'ing, more work and to do more shows, whilst bringing all of my energy to the game.

I have recently done an MC'ing set at the CMC Carnival sound system 2010 with MC's Deeza, Starz, Skibadee & Harry Shotta, which can be heard on BBC RADIO 1 XTRA.

Myst MC

Myst MCMyst MC first got introduced to this new wave of music in the summer of 94 in a place called Lazerdrom, Peckham South London @ Innersence. Since the moment he heard the music he was hook, line and sinker. Lazerdrome became his second home with regular visits to listen to the new craze to hit the London capital.

Myst's no1 DJ would have to be "2 hot to handle" Randall for his mixing ability it's identical to none with fast mixing, dark strings being played from both tracks with the ability of turning the rave upside down with the injection of his double drop mixing, followed by Andy C, Micky Finn, Hype, Probe, LTJ Bukem, S1 DJ & S.L.B. With a great DJ always comes a good MC my personal favourite would have to be Stevie "Hyper" D (R.I.P) for his style of singing & the lyrical journey with spontaneous delivery followed by MC GQ, Moose. MC's of today it has to be Eksman, Herbzie, and MC Bomber (CR0). I'm not into production but if I had to name producers that smash it for me I would have to say Nookie & Klute.

Myst started MCin June 95 & with 15 years experience under his belt it shows a sign of maturity. When up on stage that natural feeling you can't describe when your looking at the crowd having the time of their lives that control sets in with a adrenaline rush an for that moment your in your element. Myst would describe his style as versatile were it comes from experience with working alongside the DJ, motivation & energy are top of the list but 1st an foremost would be reading the crowd working with the DJ to create the perfect atmosphere to complement each other letting the music breath allowing the raver/listeners to be taken on a musical journey. Real life experiences are the top agenda of Myst's lyrical content.

I would say the plans for my future would to just keep working hard, still writing lyrics putting 110% in with every opportunity that’s put my way. At the moment I have just started writing lyrics for tracks & I would like to have a LP done writing the next 12 months.

Big up’s to: S1 DJ, Wooks, IBM, Kidson, S.L.B, Smoove, Bomber & Emma B

S.L.B

SLBSLB discovered dance music at a very young age and began listening to pirate radio stations such as Sunrise Radio and Pulse FM playing hardcore/old skool. After meeting DJ Skie who showed him how to mix, he was hooked from there. His first rave was “Lazerdrome” and a night called “Future” back in 1992. After witnessing it, he knew that he wanted become more involved in the whole rave/music culture. His favourite DJ’s are Kane, Nicky Blackmarket, Darren Jay and Randall. His favourite producers are Hazard, Distorted Minds and Original Sin. His style varies, he plays old skool and has ventured into the darker realms of Drum & Bass, but now he is into jump up and especially into the grimey sounding jump up style. DJ SLB’s future plans would be to carry on holding Nakedbeatz events, running Nakedbeatzradio and in the future, learn to produce and get a label up and running.

Wisso

WissoWisso got his first taste of DnB back in late 2004, when a mate played him tape packs from the likes of Hype, Shy FX, Dillinja, Bryan G to name a few. Soon getting hooked to the fast tempo and heavy basslines along with mcs like Eksman, Shabba, Fearless and the Ragga Twins blazing the mic he wanted to give mixing a go himself. Borrowing a mates pair of belt drive decks he was soon rolling the vinyl! After doing different internet radio stations with various friends for a good couple of years things phased out. So Wisso started to produce beats using a copy of fruity loops and reason he was mainly producing grime & dubstep for friends to lay there lyrics over.
It was in late 2007 that things got rolling again, doing FM radio and DJin while living in Australia he got his first proper experience of playing to a crowd.

When back in the UK he quickly purchased a pair of 1210s and built up the vinyl once again. After featuring on friends shows on Laylow FM, Phatbeats & Manic FM, he thought it was about time to have somewhere to base himself. This was when he came across Nakedbeatz and hasnt looked back since!
Getting more and more bookings things are moving forward for Wisso in 2010.
