Raw Theory anticipate debut vinyl release – Cyntax Error

Up and coming drum and bass duo Raw Theory are readying themselves for their first ever vinyl release coming out on 01/10/09 on independent drum and bass label Cyntax Error records.

The double sided vinyl, entitled British Steel/Desert Strike is by Birmingham based duo Raw Theory and is their first release under a two-year recording contract with the label and illustrates how the Cyntax Error brand is going from strength to strength.

One half of the Cyntax Error C.E.O’s, Rekless comments, “Raw Theory were getting instant love and recognition for the tracks they were making online, myself and Dazzler (the other half of the management team) were instantly drawn to their sound and knew they were a perfect addition to Error Squad. It only took a matter of days before Raw Theory signed with us and things have subsequently got very exciting for both Cyntax Error and Raw Theory.”

Cyntax Error records were founded in 2006 and is the brainchild of DJ’s Rekless and Dazzler of the New Breed crew (Rekless, Dazzler, Dready, Krazy Legz and MC’s Fatman D, Foxy, Eksman, Shortston, Herbzie and Evil B). Cyntax Error is one of three record labels currently incorporated within New Breed and work closely alongside stable mates Fatman D’s Biological Beats and Shortston’s Heavyweight Records. Cyntax are proud to have already grown a tight-knit family of artists known as the Error Squad and have various forthcoming releases in autumn/winter 2009.

Artist biography:

Birmingham based duo Raw Theory, aka Dj’s Laze and Dash have been plotting to invade the world of drum and bass for quite some time. The pair first crossed paths in 2003 when they enrolled on a music technology course at a local college. After brief conversations about musical interests it became clear they were like minded and they got on easily

.

Three years later when myspace became the most popular platform for new music, the lads got in touch with one another and found they had both been busy producing tracks and securing DJ sets in their spare time. Immediately, they started to bond again and this was the beginnings of what was to become Raw Theory.

Dash had started running his own event, High Voltage, which was starting to become a popular night on the scene, whilst Laze had already come to the attention of Cyntax Error Records working with another organisation. Things didn’t quite pan out in that instance but it was shortly after, that Dash invited Laze to play a set at High Voltage. It was at this time they realised they had similar goals and aspirations when it came to playing and producing DnB and Dash asked Laze to come onboard with High Voltage to help to run the event and, playing back to back, the alias Raw Theory was created on the live scene.

Their tracks got instant recognition and interest from a number of labels but it was Cyntax Error Records that Laze and Dash were drawn towards. Label C.E.O’s Rekless and Dazzler (of the infamous New Breed Crew) got in contact with them offering a deal and it was only a matter of days before Raw Theory signed a two-year recording contract, becoming the newest members of The Error Squad.

Since signing the deal Raw Theory’s workload has increased tenfold, not only is their public profile and fan base increasing daily but bookings have seen the duo travel up and down the country satisfying bass heads with their unique slant on drum and bass. They also keep it real and represent their beloved Birmingham by holding down a residency at one of the most well know bass events DISK – CONNECTED as well as hosting a prime-time two hour weekly slot every Thursday night on 99.2FM Dream UK which broadcast throughout the entire Midlands as well as Monday night on Miss Represents Internet Station Aftershock Radio.

Things are getting hectic for these ideally suited producers with their highly anticipated debut release “British Steel”/”Desert Strike” imminent on Cyntax Error Records and the bookings coming in regularly, things really are looking promising for this talented young duo from the West Midlands.
